Hi all – I am thrilled to share two new additions to our team.
As many of you know, our new LA Bureau Chief, Ryan Faughnder, starts Monday.
Ryan has spent the last 12 years at the Los Angeles Times, and was most recently a senior editor there guiding reporters who covered the business of Hollywood. He was also the author of the Wide Shot Newsletter. He is particularly proud of his role in covering the “Rust” shooting, the post-strike California production crisis and the fight for the future of “South Park.”
I am also excited to welcome Laura J. Nelson as a new enterprise reporter on our team. She will cover the LA and San Francisco donor class and the intersection of politics and AI, including tech-backed political action committees. Laura starts later this month and will be on the front lines of our coverage of California and LA. She just wrapped a nearly 14-year run at the Los Angeles Times, where she was part of a team that won the 2016 Pulitzer Prize for its coverage of the San Bernardino terror attack. She was also part of a team that was a finalist for the 2020 Pulitzer for its coverage of a fire on a diving boat off the coast of Santa Barbara.
Please join me in welcoming them!
