The United Football League is leaving San Antonio after three years in the Alamodome, according to a statement posted on social media on Friday.
Alamodome and city officials are hopeful they can bring spring football and more events back to the venue in the future.
The United Football League is looking for smaller venues after conducting a review of markets and venues. The Memphis Showboats and Michigan Panthers also announced their respective shutdowns in nearly identical statements.
“Unfortunately, due to stadium constraints, the available venues do not align with our new vision of focusing on smaller, more intimate settings that elevate the fan experience,” read the Brahmas’ statement. “We are deeply grateful for the incredible support of our devoted Brahmas.”
UFL officials said as they look ahead to potential expansion in 2028, if the right venue becomes available in San Antonio, they “look forward to bringing the Brahmas back home.”
Brahmas season ticket holders will be refunded within 7-10 days business days.
City officials said they understand the decision and want to bring spring football back to the Alamodome in the future.
“For three years, the Alamodome has enjoyed its association with the XFL and UFL football leagues,” said Richard Oliver, a city spokesperson, in an email. “We’re disappointed at the decision to discontinue the Brahamas franchise, but understand the reasoning behind placing the league’s games in smaller, more cost-effective venues.”

Oliver is communications manager for City of San Antonio Conventions and Sports Facilities. He shared attendance numbers for the Brahmas time in the Alamodome.
Oliver said the team brought in an average of 14,983 fans in 2023, before that decreased to averages of 11,888 fans in 2024 and 11,105 fans per game in 2025.
“We remain hopeful that quality spring football will return to the Alamodome in the future,” said Richard Oliver, a city spokesperson, in an email statement. “Moving forward, we will use this as an opportunity to bring more major concerts and sporting events to the Alamodome.”
The San Antonio Brahmas set up shop in the Alamodome in 2023 as part of the XFL, a spring football league. In 2024, the Brahmas played in the new UFL after the XFL merged with the United States Football League. The team was owned in part by Fox Sports and a group of investors including Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.
The team made it to the UFL championship in 2024, but lost.
