Houston police said a woman was having dinner with her family when she was caught in the middle of a drive-by shooting.
HOUSTON — An investigation is underway after Houston police said an innocent bystander was shot in a drive-by shooting Friday night.
The Houston Police Department said the shooting happened shortly before 10:30 a.m. on Glenmont Drive between Chimney Rock and Renwick Drive.
HPD said a woman was having dinner outside her apartment with her family when someone ran through the parking lot.
“A vehicle driving westbound on Glenmont started to shoot toward that individual, and just so happened, an innocent bystander, which was one of the members of the family, was struck in the stomach one time,” HPD Lt. Ali said at the scene.
The woman was rushed to an area hospital, where she is expected to survive. HPD said she was the only person injured.
Investigators were reviewing surveillance video from the area to try to identify the shooter.
