Growing up, I was rarely seen without a book in my hand. I adored reading.
I loved the smell of a new book. I loved immersing myself in the pages of the story. I loved the satisfaction of finishing a book and reflecting on the plot.

My weekly reading logs for class were a personal challenge to see how many pages I could read in a week. This number often surpassed 100 pages a week.
As I grew older, so did my hobby of reading.
Coming to college has proven to be a challenge in keeping up with my hobbies.
Some months are better than others, but I try to integrate reading into my everyday routine.
The only book I ended up reading this month was “One of Us Is Lying” by Karen M. McManus.
This book has been on my to-read list for years. I have now finally gotten around to reading it.
I have seen not only this book but also the TV adaptation advertised all over the internet. Yes, I am guilty of reading BookTok-recommended books. Sue me. Sometimes they are popular for a reason.
The easiest way I am able to continue reading books is through apps like Libby or Hoopla. These are both apps where you can register with your library card and check out digital copies of books or audiobooks right to your device.
This book was an easy audiobook to listen to. The story is about five high school students who enter detention together; however, only four of them make it out alive.
The book is told through the four living students’ narratives, and they are all trying to figure out what happened to the student who died. They are racing against time because the killer blackmailed them and has threatened to reveal their secrets.
This book was right up my alley as I gravitate towards thrillers and mystery books over romance or science fiction.
If a book combines my love for reading and true crime, I am immediately drawn towards it.
The plot of this book was very easy to follow. It was easy to follow along with the different characters’ perspectives.
Throughout the book, I honestly had no idea who the killer was.
The reveal of the killer came at a perfect time, and the book wrapped up shortly afterwards. All the questions I had were revealed at the end, which is always satisfying.
Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I will most likely watch the TV series adaptation as the plot was very interesting.
My rating for this book was 4 out of 5 stars. The plot was very engaging and suspenseful; however, it was not the best book I have read.
As next month approaches, there are various books I am interested in reading.
“Atmosphere” by Taylor Jenkind Reid, “The Housemaid” by Frieda McFadden and “The Reappearance of Rachel Price” by Holly Jackson are a few titles I plan on reading next.
With the semester going on and coursework piling up, my goal is to read at least one of the titles above.
I track all of my books and to-be-read lists through Goodreads.
I rate the books I have read and review them more in-depth there. There will be spoilers about the books, so if you are interested in reading my reviews, I recommend proceeding with caution.
As always, go Redbirds. I will be back next month.
