SAN ANTONIO – A major DWI crash on the city’s West Side left two people hospitalized early Sunday morning.

The incident occurred around 2:07 a.m. Sunday on the westbound lanes of U.S. Highway 90 near Hunt Lane.

SAPD responded to a call at the location after a vehicle crashed into a concrete pillar. Officers say the driver lost control after exiting the highway, veering onto the access road, and striking the pillar head-on.

Due to the crash, a juvenile male passenger sustained serious injuries and was taken to a local hospital along with the driver.

SAPD says that during the investigation, the driver showed signs of intoxication, and it was later determined that they were, in fact, impaired.

The investigation remains ongoing.
