Bryce James has announced his arrival on the college basketball scene.
The youngest son of Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James, made an exhibition start ahead of his freshman college season in the Arizona Red-Blue Showcase on Friday night, according to Bleacher Report.
For Team Blue, James started with Koa Peat, Motiejus Krivas, Anthony Dell’Orso, and Jaden Bradley. Team Read, who won the contest 45-44, started Dwayne Aristode, Ivan Kharchenkov, Brayden Burries, Evan Nelson, and Tobe Awaka led the lineup for Team Red.
James finished the game with three points on 1-for-3 shooting from the field, one assist, one block, and one steal in 18 minutes of action on the court.
In attendance at the exhibition were NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal, and former Arizona star and NFL legend Rob Gronkowski.
Back in January, BET reported that James officially committed to the University of Arizona, announcing the decision via an Instagram post with himself in an Arizona Wildcats jersey and the caption, “100% committed.”
After missing the first nine games of the 2024-25 season due to an undisclosed injury, the 6-foot-6 senior guard for Sierra Canyon High School played a valuable role off the bench for the Trailblazers.
Next up for the Arizona men’s basketball squad are two more exhibition games against Saint Mary’s and Embry-Riddle. On Nov 3, the Wildcats will open the regular season against reigning national champion Florida.
