UTICA, N.Y. — Students across New York can apply to nearly 130 colleges and universities for free this October.
Gov. Kathy Hochul announced that October is New York State College Application Month, during which application fees are waived at the State University of New York (SUNY), the City University of New York (CUNY) and many private colleges.
This initiative seeks to save students and families money, with fees typically ranging from $50 to $90 each.
SUNY will waive up to five application fees per student from Oct. 20 through Nov. 3.
CUNY will waive fees from Oct. 27 to Nov. 21 for New York City high school students, and from Nov. 10 to Nov. 21 for students outside the city.
Various private colleges will participate at different times throughout the month.
