If you need a big pick-me-up on this Tuesday morning, lend an ear to Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Liam Coen.
Duval’s favorite adopted son is helping lead a resurgence with the Jaguars, evidenced by the 4-1 start after the 31-28 win over the longtime Super Bowl contender Kansas City Chiefs on “Monday Night Football” on Oct. 6.
After the game, Coen addressed his team in the locker room and social media cameras captured the moment, that began with the head coach seemingly shot out of a cannon and into the pit formed by his team.
“Talk about resilience,” Coen said while addressing his team, referring to the 14-0 hole the Jaguars climbed out of to win.
Coen also shouted out — with some expected colorful language — linebacker Devin Lloyd, who had a 99-yard interception return for a touchdown.
“Not much we do is truly the most pretty thing in the world. But guess what? Winning feels good,” Coen said. “It’s not easy to win in this league. It’s not. And for us, to keep taking steps. Keep taking steps. Guys, we compete our (expletive) off, that’s the reality. … And good (expletive) will happen.”
Coen wrapped up by saying he was proud of how his team competed and proud to be their head coach.
Jaguars serenade Trevor Lawrence on birthday
The video ended with Trevor Lawrence breaking down the final huddle of the night, but not before his teammate sang “Happy Birthday.” The quarterback celebrated his 26th birthday by rushing for two touchdowns, including the eventual game-winning score.
Lawrence kept it short and sweet, reminding his teammates of the short week ahead before they host the Seattle Seahawks on Oct. 12.
