TULLY, N.Y. — Forest Rangers from the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation responded to a fire on private property in Tully amid a statewide burn ban.

Rangers arrived to find several piles of brush burning on a farm. The DEC said rangers and local fire departments contained the fire and declared it out two days later.

“DEC’s Forest Rangers bravely protect State-owned and managed lands, as well as the people who use them,” said DEC Commissioner Amanda Lefton. “Whether conducting a search and rescue call or responding to a wildfire, rangers are always ready when emergencies strike.”

The farm’s owner was ticketed for leaving a fire unattended.

There is a statewide burn ban in effect through Oct. 15.
