JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office is asking the community to help solve the murder of a man whose body was found floating in the Ortega River in September.
On Sept. 20, the JSO Marine Unit responded to the Ortega River and found Robert Velleca, 36, floating in the water.
Police said evidence was scarce initially, “leaving what happened a mystery.” The Medical Examiner’s Office later ruled Velleca’s death a homicide.
The JSO Homicide Unit is investigating how Velleca died and working to gather more details about his murder.
