WETHERSFIELD, CT — Local police issued a bear warning on Wednesday, alerting residents about what to do should they see one of these furry mammals.
According to Wethersfield Animal Control, the department has received “numerous calls” related to bear sightings in Wethersfield.
While bears are practically a part of daily life this time of year in towns like Simsbury, Avon, West Hartford, and Canton, which have lush wooded areas within their borders, local authorities say that’s not the case in Wethersfield.
“Please always remember to stay ‘bear aware’ and contact Wethersfield Animal Control at 860-721-2937 to report bear sightings,” wrote the WPD.
“If you or someone else finds themselves in danger due to a black bear, please contact 911 immediately.”
