PHOENIX — The Phoenix Police Department is investigating after a man who was found unresponsive in April died.

Phoenix police identified the deceased man as 65-year-old Mark Daniel Brendmoen.

Police said that Brendmoen’s death was determined to be a homicide on Thursday following an autopsy.

What led to Phoenix police investigating the man’s death?

On April 13, Phoenix police officers were called to the area of 19th Avenue and Bethany Home Road for reports of on aggravated assault around 4:21 p.m.

When police arrived on the scene, they reportedly located Brendmoen bleeding from his head in critical condition.

Brendmoen was transported to a nearby hospital and received multiple surgeries in order to treat a “severe” brain bleed.

According to Phoenix police, Brendmoen died from his injuries on July 20.

Police said that the autopsy determined Brendmoen suffered a brain bleed from blunt force injuries.
