A man was arrested on suspicion of trespassing early Friday morning at the Los Angeles-area home of singer-songwriter, record producer and actor Tinashe, Los Angeles police said.

LAPD officers arrived at the 32-year-old artist’s home at about 3:30 a.m. after security camera images showed a man on the property, the LAPD told NBC4 Investigates. The man tried to open a locked door, but did not enter the home.f

The 33-year-old suspect told police he is a SoundCloud rapper — artists who gained notoriety in the 2010s by uploading songs to the distribution platform — and was there to meet Tinashe, the LAPD said. Police said the man has been to the property two other times in the past few days.

The man was arrested on suspicion of misdemeanor trespassing and later released on his own recognizance, jail records showed.

An attorney for Tinashe provided a statement to NBC4 Investigates on the arrest.

“We are taking immediate and aggressive measures to protect the safety and security of our client Tinashe, including pursuing a restraining order on her behalf,” said attorney Christopher Frost. “It goes without saying that she should be able to live her life without fear or intrusion, and being an artist should not change that. Nobody, celebrity or otherwise, should have to live in fear. Whatever we can do to protect her, we will.”

It was not immediately clear whether Tinashe was home at the time.

Tinashe had notable roles include the animated film “The Polar Express” (2004), the Cartoon Network series “Out of Jimmy’s Head,” and a recurring role on CBS’s “Two and a Half Men.” She was a member of the girl group The Stunners and released mixtapes “In Case We Die” and “Reverie” before signing with RCA Records and releasing “Black Water.”

Her 2014 album “Aquarius” was nominated for Soul Train and BET awards. She released “Quantum Baby” in 2024.
