A Bennington man has been arrested for running away from a police officer and negligent operation.
It happened on October 10th at 3:38 p.m. when Bennington Police and Vermont State Police (VSP) were looking for 37-year-old Michael Parker regarding an incident he was involved in earlier.
While parked on Northside Drive in Bennington, VSP found Parker driving his vehicle on North Bennington Road.
State Police attempted to conduct a catch up to him, but Parker ran multiple red lights in an attempt to get away. Parker proceeded to drive west on Vermont Route 279. At that point, police had caught up with him and tried conducting a traffic stop and using their emergency lights and sirens.
Parker failed to stop and continued driving into New York; he was eventually located by Bennington Police and arrested on other charges later that evening.
He was transported to the Marble Valley Correctional Facility for lack of bail. He was issued a citation to appear in Vermont Superior Court, Bennington Criminal Division, on October 17th. He is facing charges including eluding and negligent operation.
