CALCASIEU PARISH — A Lyft driver was found shot to death in a ditch in Calcasieu Parish, leading to a multi-state investigation that resulted in one suspect’s death and another’s arrest.
Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a call on the 200 block of Trousdale Road in Westlake Friday morning around 11 a.m., where they discovered the body of Lawanna J. Lewis, 62, of Lake Charles. She had suffered multiple gunshot wounds to the head.
The investigation revealed that Lewis was working as a Lyft driver when she was killed, and her car was missing.
A BOLO was issued for the vehicle, which was later spotted in a Houston parking lot. When Harris County Sheriff’s Office deputies attempted to approach the car, the two occupants fled on foot.
Ethan I. Bush, 23, of Boyce, was struck by traffic and died while trying to escape. Tristan A. Bush, 26, of Lafayette, was apprehended and is facing charges of second-degree murder. His bond is set at $2.5 million, and he awaits extradition to Calcasieu Parish.
The investigation is ongoing, and authorities anticipate additional charges.
