Several WTA stars on tour are beginning to feel the effects of the jam-packed calendar as the season comes to a close.
The injury list is beginning to pile up, with Qinwen Zheng the most recent addition, having suffered another elbow injury.
Meanwhile, former Grand Slam semifinalist Daria Kasatkina announced she was at ‘breaking point’ both emotionally and physically, calling an end to her 2025 campaign.
Now, another WTA star has joined Kasatkina, just a month after returning from a year-long injury hiatus.

Former Wimbledon finalist Karolina Pliskova has announced on social media that she will not play again this year.
The Czech star suffered an ankle injury at the 2024 US Open and was sidelined until September 2025, but after playing just two tournaments since her comeback, she has made the decision to take the rest of the year off.
In a post on Instagram, Pliskova said: “It felt so good to finally compete again, but this year has been a tough one overall, and my body still needs more time to adapt.
“So that’s it for 2025 — see you all next season! Thank you so much for all the love and support, always.”

She beat Tessah Andrianjafitrimo in three sets, but ultimately bowed out in the second round to Polina Iatcenko.
At the Samsun Open in Turkey, Pliskova played her final match of the season, suffering a straight-sets defeat to Lina Gjorcheska.
The 33-year-old is currently ranked 1051st in the world, having previously reached world number one status earlier in her career.
