Man who stole woman’s purse at knifepoint after asking for cigarette

SAN ANTONIO – Authorities are searching for a man who allegedly robbed a woman at knifepoint after asking for a cigarette.

According to the San Antonio Police Department, the 37-year-old woman was sitting on the sidewalk in front of Centro Info at around 6:30 a.m. on October 4 when a man approached and asked for a cigarette. After she handed one over, the man pulled out a knife and took her purse before running off toward the river level.

Investigators say the suspect jumped near a fire escape and tossed the woman’s belongings in front of a nearby restaurant before disappearing.
