PHOENIX – Low cloud coverage is causing widespread delays for flights out of Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport on Monday.

Over 250 Sky Harbor departures were delayed as of 11 a.m., according to the airport’s website.

Flight-tracking website FlightAware listed delays for 366 flights into or out of the Phoenix hub.

The average Sky Harbor flight delay was over 80 minutes at 8 a.m., according to a Federal Aviation Administration ground delay notice. It was a little over 50 minutes as of 11 a.m. and projected to remain in that range for several hours because of low ceilings.

Phoenix air travel has been disrupted by weather and staffing issues attributed to the government shutdown several times in recent days.
