In Plano, a coming-soon restaurant will sell lobster and steak from a drive-through window. Angie’s Lobster and Angie’s Prime Grill are a two-in-one restaurant focused on making “luxury foods affordable to everyone,” according to its Phoenix-based founders Tony and Roushan Christofellis.

Customers will find chilled lobster rolls priced at $9.99 and salads and protein bowls that start at $4.99.

In this economy? How?

The Christofellises started Angie’s Lobster in 2022, the same year inflation hit a 41-year high. Their goal was to sell higher-end food “for the same price as a traditional fast-food meal,” according to a company statement.

Angie’s is a drive-through restaurant with several concepts in one. Angie’s Prime Grill sells protein bowls. At the same address in Plano, this restaurant will also sell lobster rolls under a similar name, Angie’s Lobster.

According to the company, they can do this because they “control the entire supply chain”: They own a wharf in Maine, a processing facility in Maine, a distribution center in Arizona and a chicken processing facility in Arizona. They also own a trucking company.

“We are disrupting the restaurant space by changing who has access to luxury foods like Maine lobster, USDA Prime Steak, premium and organic ingredients, house-made sauces and gourmet foods made without preservatives and additives,” said co-founder Roushan Christofellis in a statement.

Beyond Angie’s Lobster and Angie’s Prime Grill, the company operates two more brands: Angie’s Burger and Angie’s Chicken. So far, these two concepts are not part of the expansion into Plano.

The drive-through on W. 15th Street in Plano will be Angie’s first Texas location.

The restaurant is named after Tony Christofellis’ late mother, who died of pancreatic cancer in 2020.

Each restaurant menu is concise. At Angie’s Lobster, customers can order a lobster roll, crab roll, shrimp roll or fried cod sandwich. Angie’s Prime Grill offers a series of protein bowls, like Cobb, Greek or Caesar, which can also be made into a salad or a wrap. Add-ons include chicken, falafel, steak and shrimp.

The restaurants will also sell breakfast.

Angie’s low-price effort seems similar to Salad and Go, the drive-through that sells generously-portioned salads for $10 or less. Salad and Go expanded quickly in Texas in less than five years. But last month, its owners announced plans to close several dozen locations across Texas and Oklahoma as it seeks to “strengthen the brand,” said CEO Mike Tattersfield.

Salad and Go and Angie’s are not affiliated companies.

Angie’s drive-through takes over a former Boston Market, near Plano’s former Collin Creek Mall.

Next, Angie’s plans to open a restaurant in Little Elm. The company expects to open six more restaurants in Dallas-Fort Worth in 2026.
