Temperatures may cool down and leaves may fall, but some things never change, like the enduring popularity of any TV show created by Taylor Sheridan or based on the novels of Michael Connelly. Paramount+ kicked off the month of October by renewing Sheridan’s spy series Lioness, which stars Zoe Saldaña and Nicole Kidman, for a third season. Not to be outdone, Prime Video has renewed the Bosch spin-off Ballard, which stars Maggie Q, for Season 2. In other news, Showtime’s Dexter: Resurrection has been renewed at Paramount+, and Apple TV+ has confirmed that its frothy period drama The Buccaneers will be back.
Other shows haven’t been so lucky. Paramount+ Premium’s Yellowjackets is the biggest show this month to announce its end, with the upcoming fourth season being its last. Prime Video has canceled a pair of freshman dramas, Countdown and Butterfly. Fox’s The Great North has been canceled after five seasons. Netflix’s The Ultimatum: Queer Love has been canceled after two seasons. And Paramount+ with Showtime’s The Chi is ending after its upcoming eighth season, which premieres sometime next year.
Whether you’re looking to celebrate your favorites or mourn the loss of something on your regular rotation, we’re keeping tabs on all the shows that have been canceled or renewed in October below.
