The Genius Bar is still familiar, but there’s a different look and feel at Apple’s relocated, newly reopened Version 2.0 of its Fort Worth retail store.
Apple held a grand opening Oct. 11 for the new University Park Village location, now on the north side of the open-air shopping center next to Eatzi’s Market & Bakery.
As is Apple tradition, the store’s nearly 130 Apple team members formed a tunnel as they greeted about 150 customers with cheers, applauding and high-fives when the doors opened.
The Fort Worth location reflects the company’s new store design featuring wooden paneling and furniture. The space between the counters is now wide enough to accommodate wheelchairs. Sign language interpretation is available at all Apple Stores through on-demand video.
Fort Worth is the first in Texas to feature this new store design, Apple spokesperson Pia Fontes said.

Apple University Park Village opened in 2008. It is one of 17 stores across the state and more than 250 in the United States for the California-based technology giant that has a valuation of $3.47 trillion.
Apple doesn’t release the square footage of their stores, but various permits filed for the Fort Worth location show it is around 10,000 square feet, a little larger than the previous storefront.
Apple Store’s previous spot on the south side of University Park Village is going to be taken by an expansion of the Starbucks next door as well as activewear clothing brand Vuori.
Construction on the Vuori space should be completed in January, while the Starbucks expansion should be finished by June, according to filings with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation.
