Rapper Nicki Minaj has threatened to pull her next album, as the feud with Cardi B continues.
The two rap icons have been at odds for several years now, often taking aim at one another on social media. They even descended into having a physical altercation in September 2018 at a Harper’s Bazaar event as Cardi accused Nicki of spreading “lies.”
However, now Nicki appears to be hitting out at Jay-Z and the music industry as she threatens to axe any new music. Writing on X, the rapper posted, “Ok I’m not going to put out the album anymore. No more music. Hope you’re happy now @sc Bye, Barbz. Love you for life.” The fall out with Jay-Z is the latest kick off from Nicki Minaj, who has also fallen out with SZA and others.

The post, tagged in Jay-Z’s ‘Mr Carter’ account, has caught the attention of fans as one replied, “Every few years, Nicki threatens retirement like Marvel threatens ‘no more sequels.’ Both always come back louder.”

Another shared, “Every time she says bye, a new single appears.”
“Girl please, we’ll see you soon when that single drops and that album next year in March!” joked a third.
Nicki’s attention towards Jay-Z is thought to be linked to tweets and social media posts she shared with derisive comments about Jay-Z’s record label Roc Nation, suggesting the company had unsuccessfully tried to sign her.
Her anger at Jay-Z is also thought to stem from claims that she is owed between $100 to 200 million from her stake in Tidal, the music streaming service launched and spearheaded by Jay-Z in 2015 before he later sold it.
Away from Jay-Z, Nicki’s fall outs with other music stars includes her ongoing drama with Cardi B. The duo has been locked in a bitter rivalry since Cardi first burst onto the scene, but their latest verbal warfare erupted after Cardi’s new record, Am I the Drama?, smashed records and soared straight to number one.
Earlier this month, through a series of social media posts she later scrubbed, Nicki alleged that Cardi’s triumph was only possible thanks to album bundles and price cuts.

Never one to back down, Cardi, 32, fired back on social media, “You’ve been in the game like 16 years.. You need to compare yourself to YOUR peers that started around YOUR time, Rihanna, Taylor Swift, Drake…those are the numbers you need to be competing with and you can’t cuz you’re doing lower than all of them… I was in high school when you came out. wtf are you comparing yourself to me for??? [sic]”.
The most recent arguments between the pair have seen them drag each other’s children into the row, as well as savage digs at family members and partners including Nicki’s spouse, Kenneth Petty.
Kenneth was sentenced to a year of home confinement after failing to register as a sex offender in July 2022. He was required to inform the authorities when he moved due to an attempted rape conviction from 1995. He confessed to not doing this when he and Nicki relocated to California in 2019.
