Detectives probing the suspicious death of a toddler north of Brisbane have identified “a number of inconsistencies” from information initially provided, police say.

Emergency services were called to a Burpengary address for a medical welfare check on December 30, 2021.

The 16-month-old boy was transported to hospital in a critical condition and died eight days later.

At the time, an investigation was launched by the Pine Rivers Child Protection Investigation Unit, in conjunction with the Homicide Investigation Unit, to establish the circumstances surrounding the child’s death.
