Portland’s newest indoor attraction, Minibar, is now open on Marginal Way. The miniature golf course with a bar and restaurant is open seven days a week, and owner Kevin Maschella said all ages are welcome. Maschella and his wife transformed the space from a gym to a Maine-inspired sports bar with 32 TVs. He designed each of the mini golf course’s 18 holes himself to honor Maine’s rich outdoor history and sports teams. He said the Maine Celtics hole is especially challenging, but the Holy Donut and whitewater rafting holes are two of his favorites. “Mainers will come, but when you’re from out of town, too, it’s a place you can kind of get a feel for Maine,” Maschella said. “Even when you’re coming off a cruise ship, or you’re up for the day and it’s raining or really hot and you just want to get out, you can still get a good flavor for what Maine’s all about.” In addition to the mini golf course, Minibar has a bar and restaurant called the Clubhouse. Maschella’s favorite item on the menu is the PB&J burger. He also boasted about the chef’s pretzel bites and tuna melt.Minibar is open year-round. Maschella said they already have a permit for outdoor seating when the weather is nice, but he expects cold, wet days will be their busiest. He looks forward to welcoming individuals, birthday parties and corporate gatherings into the space.
