A protester at the “No Kings” protest at the Arizona Capitol on Oct. 18, 2025.

With the edge coming off the heat in Phoenix, the mass protests against the Trump administration are back. On Saturday, thousands of “No Kings” protests took place across the country, including several in the Valley and the rest of Arizona.
The biggest protest in the Grand Canyon State took place at the Arizona Capitol, where several thousands gathered to demonstrate against Donald Trump’s various overreaches — the ICE raids, the trampling of due process, the cuts to Medicaid. And, of course, not releasing the Epstein files. Among the speakers were Democratic Rep. Yassamin Ansari and Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes.
Protesters dressed in costumes and waved countless signs. Many were earnest and urgent, and several were clever and hilarious. Phoenix New Times was there, camera in hand, to capture the best signs we saw. Here are our favorites.
There were a lot of signs with a “Donald Trump as a poop” motif. This one stood out for its simplicity.
We certainly would like to believe so.
There were also a lot of dick jokes.
Not quite a dick joke, but one of the more clever signs of the day.
This is a genitalia joke of some sort…kind of.
Democrats are certainly trying.
That’s a lot of words to read, but it’s worth the effort.
Those words are so tiny, but the overall effort is appreciated.
The baby Trump balloon, always a protest favorite.
One of the stronger entries in the “political cartoon” genre.
Little kids holding out “chinga la migra” signs will always make the cut for us.
Good question.
Memes, truly the most effective and efficient way of communicating.
That’s a good sign, I tell you what.
