PHOENIX — A pedestrian has died after being hit by a pickup truck in west Phoenix on Monday night, authorities announced.
Chad Bratcher, 49, was identified as the victim of the crash by the Phoenix Police Department on Tuesday afternoon.
Phoenix police said officers responded to a crash near 51st Avenue and McDowell Road around 7:30 p.m. Monday.
When officers got to the scene, they found Bratcher, who was suffering from life-threatening injuries after being hit by a pickup truck.
Bratcher was taken to a nearby hospital by personnel from the Phoenix Fire Department and later died from his injuries.
The driver of the pickup truck stayed at the scene of the crash, police said.
The initial investigation showed that Bratcher was crossing the westbound lanes of McDowell Road mid-block when he was struck, the department said.
Police added that impairment does not appear to be a factor in this crash.
No other details were released and the investigation into this crash remains open.
Bratcher is the second pedestrian to be hit and killed in Phoenix since Sunday, as a man was killed in a hit-and-run near 27th and Northern avenues on Sunday night.
