The City of Alton says Rock Spring Golf Course is not closing, but it will have a new management company overseeing operations. A post on the City of Alton Facebook page made the clarification on Thursday evening, after a post on the Rock Spring Golf Course Facebook page said the course would be closing as of October 31.
The Rock Spring post cited poor cart path conditions and needed building updates as some of the reasons for closing, but the city said the current leaseholder decided not to continue and the city is seeking a new operator.
The course has been in operation since 1912.
