PHOENIX — A man was arrested after crashing through the ceiling of Maricopa County Animal Care and Control’s West Shelter in Phoenix on Friday.

He fell while deputies with the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office were investigating a shattered window and blood on the door handles, according to MCACC spokesperson Kim Powell.

Initially, staff members at the shelter near 27th Avenue and Lower Buckeye Road thought they were investigating a vandalism case, Powell added.

“A few hours into the investigation, a man came through the ceiling and was immediately arrested by MCSO deputies,” Powell told KTAR News 92.3 FM. “He is facing felony charges.”

The shelter was temporarily closed due to the fall.
