PHOENIX (AZFamily) — A firefighter and a woman are recovering after a trail rescue in Phoenix Saturday night.
Around 5:30 p.m., rescue teams responded to the area of Deem Hills, near Stetson Valley Parkway, for reports of an injured hiker.
When they arrived at the scene, crews were able to find the woman and evaluate her injuries on the trail. They determined the best way to help her off the trail was by air-lifting her.
Once she was safely off the trail, crews took her to the hospital with a leg injury. She is expected to be OK.
During the descent, one of the rescue members hurt his leg and also had to be helped down the trail. He was taken to the hospital as well, in stable condition.
