SAN ANTONIO – Police are on the scene of a major accident off a West Side highway that is linked to a morning shooting.
The accident happened around 10:30 a.m. Monday off State Highway 151 near Classic Drive.
Police say the incident began when a woman and her boyfriend got into an argument with her ex-boyfriend outside the Motel 6 off West Loop 1604 North.
The confrontation escalated into a physical fight in the parking lot, ending with one of the men being shot as they tried to leave the scene.
The victim managed to drive a short distance before crashing into several parked cars along Highway 151, where he was thrown from the vehicle. He was taken to the hospital in critical condition.
Officers recovered numerous shell casings from the motel parking lot, located about 10 miles southeast of the crash site. The suspected shooter was later apprehended and taken into custody.
The investigation is ongoing.
