NORWICH, CT. (WFSB) – A state police K9 helped arrest a person Tuesday afternoon who was wanted out of New York.
State police say that at around 3:19 p.m., Norwich police requested assistance from Troop E K9 Zedo and his handler in the area of Talman Street to track a wanted person following a foot pursuit.
When troopers arrived, they learned that the suspect was wanted by the New York Police Department on an extraditable arrest warrant for dangerous drugs.
When the suspect saw Norwich police officers, they fled.
K9 Zedo was cast and later found him hiding under a comforter in the woods.
The suspect again fled from authorities, jumped down a steep embankment and into the Shetucket River.
They attempted to swim across but eventually returned to shore, where police took them into custody.
They were charged by Norwich police with interfering and resisting arrest.
