An investigation is underway after police said a man was shot outside of a church in North Philadelphia overnight.

According to police, just before 1:30 a.m. Thursday, July 3, 2025, officers responded to the 3200 block of N. 26th St. after receiving reports of a shooting.

Police said when officers got to the scene, right outside Devereux United Methodist Church, they found a 19-year-old man who had been shot multiple times in the torso, back, arms and legs. He was rushed to the hospital and is currently in critical condition.

At the scene, police said officers recovered over 30 spent shell casings and parts of a semi-automatic handgun.

Police said casings were found in three separate clusters, suggesting the possibility of multiple shooters. Two parked vehicles were also hit by gunfire.

Surveillance video captured a masked individual fleeing on foot, as well as a separate vehicle leaving the area, according to police.

Police said investigators are reviewing both private and real-time crime cameras in the hope of identifying the suspects.
