The University of Alabama has declined to provide specifics about the incident, but confirmed that an investigation is underway. The university has released a statement on Kirkpatrick: “We are aware of an incident involving Dre Kirkpatrick Jr. and are working to gather more information,” the statement read.

Kirkpatrick, a 5-foot-11, 202-pound safety, was a three-star defensive back prospect in the state of Alabama, who signed with Kalen DeBoer and the Alabama Crimson Tide as a member of the Tide’s 2024 recruiting class. He committed to the University of Alabama in August 2023, and he is the son of former Alabama and Cincinnati Bengals safety Dre Kirkpatrick.

Kirkpatrick Jr. has appeared in eight games for Alabama in the 2025 season, totaling nine tackles. He also has a tackle for loss and one forced fumble on the season, with both coming in Alabama’s 73-0 win over ULM. On Alabama’s depth chart, he’s listed as the backup to starter Keon Sabb at strong safety.

Kirkpatrick is still listed on Alabama’s online football roster as of Sunday morning. Stay tuned to Tide 100.9 and the Tuscaloosa Thread for more details on this developing situation.
