HOUSTON — The holiday season has officially arrived in Uptown Houston, where more than 300 glowing holiday trees now light up Post Oak Boulevard in a spectacular annual display.
Stretching from the West Loop to Richmond Avenue, the 20-foot trees each contain 250 LED light units capable of producing more than 16 million color combinations, creating a dynamic, two-mile-long holiday light show that has become one of Houston’s most anticipated seasonal sights.
Two sisters, 7-year-old Margaret and 9-year-old Mary Helen, had the honor of hitting the button to turn everything on. They said their favorite part of the year is the Christmas season.
In addition to the illuminated trees, Uptown’s festive makeover includes pedestrian lighting, stainless steel rings and more than 1,000 sparkling stars adorning the boulevard, setting the scene for the city’s prime shopping and holiday season.
This year’s lights officially switched on Sunday, November 2, in conjunction with the end of Daylight Saving Time, and will continue to shine through the New Year.
