PHOENIX – Authorities canceled a SAFE Alert on Monday after finding the body of a West Valley man who went missing last week.
Robert Jones, 70, was last seen at a Chevron fuel center near Buckeye Road and 51st Avenue around 9:30 p.m. on Oct. 28. He had left his home near Buckeye Road and Avondale Boulevard in Avondale around 7 p.m.
His body was found on Sunday in a farm area near Loop 202 and Buckeye Road in Phoenix, according to Derek Rogers, a spokesman with the Avondale Police Department.
“At this time, foul play is not believed to be a factor,” Rogers said in a Monday announcement. “The Maricopa County Medical Examiner’s Office will determine the cause of death.”

Jones’ 2015 silver Lexus RX350 SUV with Arizona license plate TAA6CL was found in the Chevron’s parking lot.
He was wearing a gray hat, gray long-sleeve shirt and gray pants when he went missing, according to the SAFE Alert.
Investigators looked into several leads, using video camera canvassing and drones to try and find Jones, according to Rogers.
“Thank you to (everyone) who was on the lookout for our missing neighbor,” Rogers said. “Our hearts are saddened with the Jones family as they grieve the loss of their loved one.”
SAFE Alerts have replaced Silver Alerts in Arizona as a way to spread the word about missing persons who are 65 and older and missing persons who have dementia or developmental/cognitive disabilities.
