With a new EP coming in January, Cat Power will bring her upcoming tour to downtown Phoenix.
She will celebrate the 20th anniversary of her milestone 2006 album “The Greatest” with “Redux,” a three-song EP arriving digitally and on 10-inch vinyl on Jan. 23. A tour of live anniversary shows will follow, including a stop at The Van Buren on Feb. 15.
Ticket pre-sales begin Wednesday, Nov. 5. General sales start at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 7 at catpowermusic.com/#tour.
“Redux” includes a brand-new re-recording of James Brown’s chart-topping classic “Try Me,” as well as a stunning rendition of Prince’s iconic “Nothing Compares 2 U,” recorded in tribute to the late, great guitarist Teenie Hodges, a legendary member of The Memphis Rhythm Band that backed Cat Power on “The Greatest.”
Next year will see Cat Power perform “The Greatest” in its entirety with a special series of 20th anniversary live shows.
