PHOENIX (AZFamily) — Valley students showed out to support community members in need — and that’s Something Good.
Students at Xavier College Preparatory, a Phoenix school that usually has a dress code, can wear more comfortable clothing for a small donation to benefit St. Vincent de Paul.
When students donate canned food or money to the XCP Canned Food Drive at the start of their day, they have to get a wristband that allows them to wear “Sweans” to class — that’s their Gen Z slang for sweats or jeans.
As of Wednesday, the drive raised a total of $40,000, or 40,000 cans. Donations can be made by anyone online at XCP.org.
