Bishop John Dolan of Phoenix is a keynote speaker at the international conference on mental health in Rome.

PHOENIX — Bishop John Dolan of Phoenix stood at the heart of the Vatican to visit with Pope Leo XIV on Wednesday.

The Catholic Diocese of Phoenix said that Bishop Dolan will be a keynote speaker at the international conference on mental health in Rome.  The three-day conference is organized by the Association of Catholic Mental Health Ministers (ACMHM) under the patronage of the Pontifical Academy for Life.

People from all over the world involved in the pastoral care of mental health will come together for this conference in Pius X Hall.

Bishop Dolan will reflect on “Our Holy Father’s November Prayer Intention” and will share practical approaches on mental health, specifically tied to the historic Office of Mental Health Ministry in the Diocese of Phoenix, which opened in December 2022.

Bishop was installed as fifth bishop of the Diocese of Phoenix in August 2022. He co-authored a pastoral handbook for Catholic leaders on how to respond to suicide.
