HOUSTON — A fatal crash has closed multiple lanes of Highway 6 at US 59 in Sugar Land. One person is dead and officials are warning drivers to expect delays lasting several hours.
Sugar Land Police responded to the crash around 3:43 p.m. Wednesday in the northbound lanes of Highway 6 near the northbound US 59 feeder.
A motorcycle was on its side at the scene on the crash. Officials have not shared what led up to the crash or who was involved.
As of 4:50 p.m., Highway 6 southbound was completely closed under US 59, while only one northbound lane remained open. All traffic on the northbound US 59 feeder approaching the intersection is being diverted to a single lane, with drivers allowed to turn only right onto southbound Highway 6.
Authorities say it will take several hours to clear the scene. Police are urging drivers to avoid the area and use alternate routes if possible to avoid delays.
