Authorities have busted a large-scale narcotics operation that stretched from New York City to Long Island, one that involved the seizure of enough fentanyl to kill every person in Suffolk County, officials said Friday.
Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond Tierney and other law enforcement partners are expected to announce details of the case at a press conference later in the day.
According to prosecutors, the investigators seized enough fentanyl to kill all 1.5 million Suffolk County residents. Cocaine, heroin, pressed pills and illegal weapons were also seized.
In 2023, a separate investigation yielded the arrest of a man, also from the Bronx, for allegedly transporting 3 kilos of pure fentanyl. At the time, investigators said it was enough fentanyl to wipe out Nassau County.
Back in 2017, law enforcement took down a New York City ring with enough fentanyl to kill 32 million people.
