Award-winning comedian, actor and writer John Mulaney is bringing the laughs to San Antonio next week as part of his 31-city John Mulaney: Mister Whatever tour. He’ll perform Tuesday and Wednesday at the Majestic Theatre.
Mulaney, a former Saturday Night Live writer, got a big boost in visibility through his Netflix talk show Everybody’s Live with John Mulaney, which mixes celebrity interviews with often-bizarre comedic turns.
He’s also a three-time Emmy Award winner and a winner of both the Critics’ Choice Award and WGA Award. The comic bagged two of those Emmys for his 2023 standup special Baby J, in which he frankly discusses his stint in drug rehab and struggle to stay sober.
Beyond the awards and accolades, Mulaney has managed to build an enviable standup career because of his approachable style. He’s conversational, sometimes confessional, and a masterful storyteller who can move seamlessly between folksy and edgy material while using his charm and deft mastery of language to drag the audience along for the ride.
$72-$384, 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 11 and Wednesday, Nov. 12, Majestic Theatre, 224. E. Houston St., (210) 226-3333, majesticempire.com.
