San Antonio is about to get some extra sizzle. Chubby Cattle BBQ, a wildly popular Los Angeles chain known for its all-you-can-eat wagyu, is opening its first Alamo City location at 7400 San Pedro Ave. inside North Star Mall sometime in 2026, according to a company announcement.
Chubby Cattle offers its feasts in three tiers. Silver gives guests choices like various wagyu cuts, pork belly, and beef tongue, while the Gold Tier ups the ante with foie gras nigiri and scallop sashimi topped with caviar. The Diamond level offers the same dishes as Gold, but diners are able to add more options to the meal.
All of the meals come with an assortment of non-grillable goodies like yellowtail hand rolls, salmon carpaccio, shrimp tempura, wagyu broth-soaked rice, and tom yum soup. There are even truffle fries for diners who need a salt fix. Chubby Cattle loves its fancy ingredients.
Frequent flyers can up the exclusivity by joining the free membership program. The perks include discounts, free birthday meals, and complimentary tea each month. Ever techy, Chubby Cattle offers an auto-renewing paid upgrade to the Chubby Club and NFTs, which provide additional benefits like priority reservations, invites to special events, and even free food for life if one wins the coveted Black Tier card.
The futurism continues to the interior. The chain incorporates robot servers, conveyor belts, and projectors into the show. As far as we know, ChatGPT isn’t in the kitchen slicing beef.
Cofounders Harby Yang and David Zhao opened Chubby Cattle in Las Vegas (natch) in 2014 but remain headquartered in California. It now has restaurants throughout the U.S., including Denver, Chicago, New York City, and Honolulu. Some of the spots have other focuses, like hot pot or shabu-shabu.
So far, the company is keeping mum on the exact opening details. A request for more exact timeline information was not returned in time for publication.
