  • November 7, 2025

HOUSTON COUNTY, Texas (KTRE) – The Houston County chief deputy confirmed Friday morning that the child sex crime case against their former deputy is connected to the former Gladewater police officer who was also arrested.

Former Houston County Deputy Skyler Laza and former Gladewater Police Officer Kenan Robert Laza are brothers and were both abusing the same victim, according to the Houston County Chief Deputy Ryan Martin.

Skyler was arrested for aggravated sexual assault of a child and Kenan was arrested for indecency with a child.

The Houston County Sheriff’s Office and Gladewater Police Department both said they are cooperating with the investigating agencies to assist in every way possible.
