HOUSTON – Deputies were working to find out if alcohol was a factor in a wrong-way crash that killed a 5-year-old girl in Northeast Harris County.
Investigators said a 20-year-old man was driving on East Mount Houston Road near Sheridan Road when he crossed into oncoming traffic and hit a Cadillac nearly head-on.
A 5-year-old inside the Cadillac died on the way to the hospital.
Her mother was injured and was expected to survive.
The 20-year-old man was also taken to the hospital, but his condition was unknown.
“During the investigation, we have found some evidence that suggests that alcohol may be involved with the driver of the white Nissan,” said Captain Albers with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office. “There’s open beverage containers and signs of intoxication on his person.”
