A commercial fire broke out in downtown Los Angeles Saturday but was quickly knocked down by firefighters.

The exterior fire was reported shortly before 12:30 p.m. Saturday in a one-story row of commercial buildings at 781 E. 14th St., near the Fashion District, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

Firefighters reported heavy smoke showing from one unit.

Responders prevented the fire from extending into the building, according to the LAFD. After responders investigated the two adjoining businesses, it was determined that there was only residual smoke.

No injuries were reported.
