Pregler had been hospitalized since he and his wife, 50-year-old Shonda Lynn Pregler, were found with gunshot wounds on Oct. 31 after what the Phoenix Police Department called a domestic dispute.

Officers responded to a shooting call near 89th Avenue and Indianola Avenue, south of Indian School Road, around 5:10 p.m. and found the Preglers suffering from life-threatening injuries.

Shonda Lynn Pregler died after being taken to a hospital. David Pregler underwent emergency surgery and remained in the hospital until he was deemed healthy enough to be jailed.
