KHOU’s Marcelino Benito emceed the event for the third year, joining more than 4,000 walkers in the fight to end Alzheimer’s — a cause close to his heart. 💜

HOUSTON — Over the weekend, more than 4,000 people filled the streets at TMC Helix Park for Houston’s Walk to End Alzheimer’s — and what an unforgettable morning it was.

Several members of the KHOU 11 team joined Anchor/Reporter Marcelino Benito and his family on the walk. He was honored to emcee the event for the third year in a row.

As many KHOU 11 viewers know, Benito lost his Mom to Alzheimer’s in 2023. This cause will always be deeply personal for him. Every year, he is reminded why the community walks — for the families, for the memories, and for hope.

This year’s walk made history, raising more than $1 million heading into Saturday, a record high. The KHOU 11 team even surpassed their fundraising goal.

“I’m so grateful to our viewers, my KHOU family, and of course my friends and family for helping make that happen,” Benito said.

Every dollar raised goes directly to the Alzheimer’s Association to fund critical research, more support for caregivers, and — one day — a cure.

If you’d like to help the cause, you can continue to donate to the KHOU 11 Walk Team through December 31st here.
