Save

On Sunday, November 23, Melrose Avenue will transform into a car-free playground for fans of Stranger Things. From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Netflix and CicLAvia are teaming up for Stranger Things 5: One Last Ride, a day-long celebration of the show’s fifth and final season. Bikes, skates, and sneakers will replace cars along the four-mile stretch connecting Fairfax and Vermont Avenues, turning the street into a pop-up version of Hawkins. Plus, upside-down surprises are included!

Step Into Hawkins

Fans can expect immersive activations, photo ops, and themed programming along the route, from merch drops and giveaways to live entertainment. There’s even a special quest to collect stamps by completing activities at checkpoints to unlock extra surprises, adding a playful scavenger hunt element to the day.

If dressing up is your thing, think 1980s neon, leg warmers, windbreakers, or channel your favorite Hawkins resident or monster. Either way, the event leans into nostalgia and spectacle, giving attendees a chance to feel fully transported into the Stranger Things universe just days before Volume 1 hits Netflix on November 26.

Hubs, Highlights, and Local Gems

The route features three hubs, Fairfax, Melrose, and Vermont, where bikes must dismount and walking is encouraged. Each hub offers family-friendly activities, photo ops, free water stations, basic bike repair, pedicab rides, restrooms, and first aid. These hubs also act as meeting points for the Stranger Things quest and as pop-up destinations to explore local businesses and cultural landmarks along Melrose.

Stranger Things Open Street Day

This isn’t just a Stranger Things fan event. It’s CicLAvia’s 64th car-free open streets day since 2010, part of a mission to reclaim public streets as spaces for community, activity, and culture. CicLAvia temporarily turns car traffic into a people-powered cityscape, inviting Angelenos to move through the city at their own pace, discover local businesses, and connect with their neighborhoods in a way that cars never allow.

For this special collaboration, Melrose becomes a space where storytelling meets urban mobility: Hawkins comes alive, the Upside Down peeks around corners, and fans of all ages can participate in a fully immersive, car-free adventure.
