This is a crime wrap-up for Nov. 6-9.
Possession of controlled substance in penalty group 1/1-B, prohibited substance/item in correctional or civic commitment facility, fraudulent use or possession of identifying information, failure to identify or giving false information
On Nov. 9, two unaffiliated persons were arrested for outstanding warrants, UTA Police Capt. Mike McCord said in an email. Both were taken to Arlington Police Department jail. While at the jail, one of the arrestees was found to be in possession of methamphetamine.
Possession of less than a gram of a controlled substance in penalty group 1/1-B is a state jail felony punishable by imprisonment of 180 days to two years in jail. Perpetrators may also receive a fine not exceeding $10,000.
Prohibited substance or item in a correctional or civil commitment facility is a third-degree felony punishable by jail time between two and 10 years. Perpetrators may also receive a fine not exceeding $10,000.
Fraudulent use or possession of identifying information under five items is a state jail felony punishable by imprisonment of 180 days to two years in jail, with the possibility of a fine not exceeding $10,000.
Failure to identify is a class C misdemeanor punishable by a fine not to exceed $500, while giving false information to an officer is a class B misdemeanor punishable by a fine of no more than $2,000, confinement in jail of up to 180 days or both.
Criminal trespass and criminal mischief
On Nov. 9, a student reported that another student deleted his video game account, McCord said.
If the offender has not been previously convicted of trespassing on higher education property, the offense is a class B misdemeanor punishable by a fine not to exceed $2,000, confinement in jail of up to 180 days or both.
Criminal mischief with a pecuniary loss between $100 and $750 is a class B misdemeanor punishable by a fine not to exceed $2,000, confinement in jail for up to 180 days or both.
Possession of marijuana
On Nov. 8, an unaffiliated person was arrested on an outstanding warrant and for possessing marijuana. She was transported to Arlington Police Department jail, McCord said.
Possession of marijuana of two ounces or less is a class B misdemeanor punishable by a fine not to exceed $2,000, up to 180 days in jail or both.
Reckless damage or destruction of property
On Nov. 7, a student reported damage to her vehicle while it was parked, McCord said.
Reckless damage or destruction of property is a class C misdemeanor punishable by a fine not to exceed $500.
Publish/threaten to publish intimate visual material and theft under $100
On Nov. 6, a student reported being the victim of a scam, McCord said.
Publishing or threatening to publish intimate visual material is a state jail felony, punishable by imprisonment of 180 days to two years in jail, with the possibility of a fine not exceeding $10,000. If conduct that constitutes an offense under this section also constitutes an offense under another law, the actor may be prosecuted under this section, the other law or both.
Theft under $100 is a class C misdemeanor punishable by a fine of no more than $500.
