As Thanksgiving approaches, Houston organizations are opening their doors to volunteers, donors, and people seeking support.
From food donations to volunteer shifts and essential resources, this guide highlights where you can lend a helping hand or find assistance for yourself and your loved ones.

Thanksgiving Day Super Feast: The City Wide Club’s annual Thanksgiving Day Super Feast returns on Thursday, Nov. 27, at the George R. Brown Convention Center. Known as the nation’s largest Thanksgiving meal and turkey distribution, the event helps provide up to 80 pounds of food per family, including turkeys, canned goods, baked items, and more. Donations also support essential services such as housing information, employment assistance, and recovery programs for those in need. Operation Turkey
Operation Turkey is once again making sure no one in Houston goes hungry this Thanksgiving. Volunteers will deliver hot meals across the city on Thursday, November 27, between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Each meal includes traditional favorites like turkey, stuffing, and vegetables.
To request a meal, fill out the Request a Meal form on the Operation Turkey website by Friday, November 21, or until all meals are claimed. You’ll receive confirmation once your request is accepted and delivery is scheduled.
Meals can also be picked up on Thanksgiving morning from 6 a.m. to 12 p.m. at these Houston-area locations:

The Dub Way Foundation Fall Festival & Turkey Giveaway: The Dub Way Foundation invites the community to a fun-filled Fall Festival and Turkey Giveaway on Saturday, Nov. 22, from 3 to 7 p.m. at Hunters Glen Park (1340 Independence Blvd.). Guests can enjoy free food, drinks, music, games, and vendors while supplies last, as well as receive a turkey for the holiday season.
Families Feeding Families: Everyone is invited to a free Thanksgiving meal on Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2025, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Salem Community Center. The event is open to the entire community and includes a complimentary Thanksgiving meal, haircuts, vision screenings, goodie bags, clothing, toys, and children’s activities. Guests can also connect with community partners offering support services. The event is free and welcoming to all.
5th Annual Healthy Fall Festival: The Aldine School District, in partnership with Equality Health Foundation, will host its 5th annual Healthy Fall Festival on Saturday, Nov. 22, 2025, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at M.O. Campbell Education Center, 1865 Aldine Bender Rd. The free, family-friendly event will offer healthy bag giveaways with turkey and produce, immunizations and flu shots, health education and screenings, kids’ activities, entertainment, raffles, and community resource information. One healthy bag per family, while supplies last.

Taste Budzzz Thanksgiving Turkey Giveaway: Houston’s Taste Budzzz Sports Bar and Grill will host its first annual Thanksgiving Turkey Giveaway on Saturday, Nov. 22, 2025, at 11 a.m. at 5204 Yale St., Houston, TX 77091. Free turkeys will be distributed to local families on a first-come, first-served basis. The event is sponsored by Loretta Perez and supported by community partners, including The Acres Home Chamber for Business and Economic Development, Cruise Control M/C, Booker T. Washington High School, and Brazos School for Inquiry and Creativity. Donations are welcome to help serve more households.
Medium Rare Free Turkey Fry: Houston will host its first-ever Free Turkey Fry on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, Nov. 27, 2025, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Medium Rare, 3201 Louisiana St., Suite 110. Residents can bring a fully thawed turkey (up to 10 pounds) to be safely fried by the restaurant’s experts. The event is first-come, first-served and continues Medium Rare’s 18-year tradition of helping the community safely prepare Thanksgiving meals.
Destined for Empowerment: The church will serve free Thanksgiving meals to the community on Wednesday, Nov. 27, at 10921 Foy Lane in Houston. Individuals can place orders for their dinners and choose to pick them up or dine in at the location. Volunteers will assist with setup, meal prep, serving, and cleanup. Donations are now being accepted to help make the event possible.

Purple Bag Food Drive with Crown Royal, Andre Johnson and Taylor Rooks: Crown Royal is partnering with the Houston Food Bank, Texans legend Andre Johnson, and Emmy-nominated sports journalist Taylor Rooks to pack and provide 10,000 meals for Houston families in need this Thanksgiving.
Houstonians ages 21 and older are invited to join the Purple Bag Food Drive on Wednesday, Nov. 19, from 12:30 to 4 p.m. at the Houston Food Bank East Branch (535 Portwall St). Guests can help pack meals alongside Johnson and Rooks, enjoy a live DJ, take photos with the iconic Crown Royal Rig, and receive special giveaways.
The event is open to the public, but space is limited and RSVP is required at here.
Families Feeding Families: Help make Families Feeding Families’ free Thanksgiving event a success on Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2025, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Salem Community Center. Volunteers are needed to serve meals, assist with activities, distribute resources, and support guests.
HTX Basket Brigade: Volunteers are invited to help organize Thanksgiving baskets for Houston families in need on Saturday, Nov. 22, 2025, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Westbury High School, 11911 Chimney Rock Rd, Houston. This family-friendly event turns financial donations into holiday baskets to support the community. Participants should register in advance, and signage will direct volunteers to parking and entry.
Air Tech Thanksgiving Food Drive: Houston-based Air Tech Cooling, Heating, Plumbing, and Electrical is hosting its annual Thanksgiving food drive to support the Wesley Community Center. Donations will be boxed and delivered on Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2025. Customers who donate can also receive a free maintenance service as a thank-you for their support.
